Senator Judy Ward and Representative Kerry Benninghoff have announced that the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority (PBDA) has granted 25 laptops to the Tuscarora Intermediate Unit. This grant is part of the Digital Connectivity Technology Program (DCTP), which aims to provide technology devices in communities where cost hinders broadband access.

"Access to a computer and up-to-date technology is critical in today’s digital age," said Ward. "By providing the Tuscarora intermediate Unit with these laptops through this award, they will be better able to give their students the tools they need to connect, succeed, and pursue their best future."

Benninghoff emphasized the importance of internet access: "Access to the internet is a key to unlocking potential and expanding knowledge and opportunities. Congratulations to the students who will have the opportunity to use these laptops and the school’s administrators for taking the initiative to apply for this competitive grant."

The DCTP program, funded by $20 million in federal support, assists community institutions like libraries, schools, municipalities, workforce training organizations, and other non-profits. Projects eligible for this program focus on providing devices that enhance broadband internet access while promoting digital literacy and skills training.

To ensure transparency and track progress, PBDA requires grantees to submit quarterly and annual reports detailing project successes and how technology access impacts communities.

This award is part of Pennsylvania's broader strategy to improve digital access across the state, reinforcing efforts to close the digital divide.
