State Representative Rich Irvin and Senator Judy Ward have announced over $2.1 million in state funding for community projects within the 81st Legislative District. The funds, sourced from the Local Share Account (LSA) program, aim to support various infrastructure and community enhancement initiatives.
"I personally advocated for these projects to receive funding under the LSA program," stated Irvin. He emphasized the importance of financial support for projects that address health and safety needs while enhancing residents' quality of life.
Ward highlighted the significance of the LSA grant program as a resource for municipalities aiming to improve or repair critical infrastructure. "While the grants are very competitive and not all projects are able to be funded, the projects funded this round are well-deserving and will improve quality of life for the local communities," she said.
The funding will be allocated to several projects, including:
- $77,738 for Mill Creek Volunteer Fire Department's generator replacement.
- $30,930 for rehabilitation of war monuments in Broad Top City Borough.
- $494,173 for Petersburg Sewer Authority's line repairs.
- $693,840 for road and sidewalk rehabilitation in Three Springs Borough.
- $116,935 for Alexandria Borough Water Authority's purchase of maintenance vehicles.
- $279,100 for Cassville Water and Sewer Authority's new wastewater treatment plant UV disinfection system.
- $100,000 for stormwater upgrades in Dudley Borough.
- $264,044 for a retaining wall system along Point Road in Juniata Township.
- $47,974 for renovations at Alexandria Volunteer Fire Company.
Funding from the LSA program is derived from gaming revenues under the PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act. These revenues are distributed through the Commonwealth Financing Authority to support public interest projects across Pennsylvania.
