Senator Judy Ward and Representative Jesse Topper have announced that more than $84,000 in grants will be awarded to local fire departments and emergency medical services in Fulton County. The funding comes from the Office of the State Fire Commissioner’s Fire Company and Emergency Medical Service Grant Program.

“These annual grant awards support the needs of our Fire and EMS providers so they are equipped to help those who call on them in times of desperate need,” stated Senator Ward. She emphasized the critical role first responders play, particularly in rural areas.

Representative Topper added, “This funding will aid the brave men and women who come to our assistance during our times of need. We owe them a huge debt of gratitude.” He highlighted the importance of providing necessary training and equipment for these responders.

The grant is designated for various purposes including facilities, equipment, debt reduction, training, and education. Career departments can also use funds for overtime costs related to backfilling positions during firefighter training sessions.
