State Representative Rich Irvin and Senator Judy Ward have announced the allocation of $2,104,734 in state funding for community projects within Pennsylvania's 81st Legislative District. The funds are provided through the state's Local Share Account (LSA) program.
"I personally advocated for these projects to receive funding under the LSA program," said Irvin. "Our communities need financial support to complete both needed projects for health and safety reasons, as well as projects that enhance the quality of life of their residents. These projects will accomplish those goals and make a significant difference in their communities."
Ward emphasized the importance of the LSA grant program, stating, "The statewide LSA grant program is a vital tool for municipalities as they seek to improve or repair critical water, sewer, or transportation infrastructure or meet other unique needs. While the grants are very competitive and not all projects are able to be funded, the projects funded this round are well-deserving and will improve quality of life for the local communities."
The funded projects include:
- $77,738 allocated to Mill Creek Volunteer Fire Department for generator replacement and upgrades.
- $30,930 designated for rehabilitating monuments in Broad Top City Borough.
- $494,173 awarded to Petersburg Sewer Authority for line repairs and system improvements.
- $693,840 granted to Three Springs Borough for road and sidewalk rehabilitation.
- $116,935 given to Alexandria Borough Water Authority for purchasing maintenance vehicles.
- $279,100 directed towards a new UV disinfection system at Cassville Water and Sewer Authority.
- $100,000 earmarked for stormwater upgrades in Dudley Borough.
- $264,044 allocated for constructing a retaining wall system along Point Road in Juniata Township.
- $47,974 assigned to renovations at Alexandria Volunteer Fire Company.
Funding from the LSA program originates from the PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act. This act facilitates gaming revenue distribution through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) to support public interest projects across Pennsylvania.
