Part of Old Route 126 in Union Township will undergo repairs following a $350,000 state grant. This announcement was made by Representative Jesse Topper and Senator Judy Ward.

“Work funded through this grant is poised to allow officials to re-open Old Route 126, alleviating long detours for residents and extended emergency response times,” stated Topper. He emphasized that the news would be welcomed by the community.

Old Route 126 has been closed for several years due to instability caused by a landslide. The repair project involves excavation, backfilling with aggregate, installation of a roadway subbase and pavement, installation of cross pipes, and stabilization using rock on the downhill slope. Funding is provided through the Local Share Account grant program managed by the Commonwealth Financing Authority.

Senator Ward noted, “This most recent grant award for Union Township is much-needed since damage from a landslide has made the road unusable, causing substantial detours for residents and emergency responders.” She highlighted that once completed, the project would improve travel efficiency and enhance community connectivity.

The Local Share Account funds projects aimed at benefiting public interest and improving citizens' quality of life.

Additionally, Forbes Road School District received $398,475 from Public School Facility Improvement Grant funds. These funds are designated for upgrading the HVAC system at Forbes Road Elementary School with energy-efficient technologies designed to enhance air quality.

Representative Jesse Topper represents Pennsylvania's 78th District in the House of Representatives. Media inquiries can be directed to Greg Gross at 717-260-6374 or via email at ggross@pahousegop.com.
