Sen. Judy Ward (R-30) announced today that more than $5.8 million in state funding has been awarded for a sewer main project in Frankstown Township, Blair County.

“State funding can help local governments pay for projects they may otherwise not be able to afford,” Ward said. “Infrastructure projects like this sewer line are instrumental to the health and vitality of local communities. This PENNVEST loan will enable Frankstown Township to continue providing essential services for residents.”

The project will rehabilitate or replace nearly 25,000 feet of sewer main with new sanitary sewer pipe and manholes. It is scheduled to begin on October 1 and end on or before May 30, 2025.

The project is estimated to cost $5.85 million, which the state is providing in the form of a low-interest loan. The interest rate for the loan for the first five years will be 1.743%, increasing to 2.179% in year six until the loan is paid in full.

Funding for the project is being provided through the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST). PENNVEST is an independent state agency that provides financial assistance for sewer, stormwater, and drinking water projects in communities across the commonwealth.
