HARRISBURG – Because illegible license plates are required by state law to be replaced, Rep. Jim Gregory (R-Blair) will host two events in which motorists can start the process to get replacement plates.
License plates that are blistered, peeling, or discolored can be replaced for free if a representative from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation or law enforcement officer deems them illegible. An officer will be present from:
•4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, at the guest services building at the main entrance of DelGrosso’s Park on the waterpark side of the campus. The address is 4352 East Pleasant Valley Blvd., Tipton.
•4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, at Freedom Township Fire Hall, 139 Municipal St., East Freedom.
Each attendee needs to bring the vehicle with the affected plate attached as well as his or her driver’s license and registration card.
"The law considers a plate to be illegible if it is damaged or one or more numbers or letters can’t be read from 50 feet away," stated Rep. Jim Gregory. He also added, “This is an opportunity to check something off your ‘to-do list’ and easily start the process for a free replacement.”
No appointments are needed for the events. For more information, individuals can call Gregory’s Hollidaysburg office at 814-695-2398.
