Altoona, Mar. 06, 2024 - Rep. Lou Schmitt (R-Blair) has extended an invitation to the community by teaming up with the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office to host a Senior Scam Prevention Seminar. The event is scheduled for Thursday, March 21, at Graystone Court in Altoona and aims to educate senior citizens on the prevalent scams targeting them.

Speaking about the initiative, Schmitt emphasized the importance of safeguarding seniors from falling victim to scams, stating, “All too often scammers target senior citizens as victims and unfortunately bilk them out of their hard-earned money.” He further encouraged seniors, along with their families and caregivers, to participate in the seminar, emphasizing the significance of prevention in avoiding financial exploitation.

The seminar will cover essential topics such as steps to take if one becomes a victim of identity theft, best practices for protecting personal information both online and in day-to-day interactions, and identifying red flags that indicate potential scams aimed at stealing one’s identity.

Individuals interested in attending the event are requested to RSVP in advance by contacting Schmitt’s office at 814-946-7218 or visiting RepSchmitt.com/events.

For more information, please visit Representative Lou Schmitt’s official website or connect with him on Facebook.
