Rep. Rich Irvin (R-Franklin/Huntingdon) is organizing two license plate replacement events in Huntingdon and Shippensburg for local residents.
“These events are for anyone who has a faded, peeling or otherwise unreadable or damaged license plate to get a free replacement,” said Irvin. “Officers from the area sheriff’s offices will be on hand at each location to fill out the paperwork. The new plates will be available at my offices for pick-up once processed through PennDOT.”
Vehicle owners are required to bring their unexpired Pennsylvania driver’s license and current vehicle registration card to the event.
The first event is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Smithfield Fire Hall, 10 Firehouse Lane, Huntingdon. Irvin will partner with Huntingdon County Sheriff Jeff Leonard.
The second event will take place on Friday, Aug. 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Southampton Township Municipal Building, 703 Municipal Drive, Shippensburg, with Franklin County Sheriff Ben Sites. At this event, the Franklin County Sheriff's Office will also conduct car seat safety checks for those interested.
Those unable to attend these events but needing a replacement license plate can apply using PennDOT form MV-46. A completed form signed by a law enforcement officer or certified safety inspector can be submitted to Irvin’s district offices for processing.
For more information, call Irvin’s district offices at 814-644-2996 (Huntingdon) or 717-532-1707 (Shippensburg).
