State Sen. Judy Ward (R-30) has announced a significant boost for wastewater treatment at the DelGrosso Foods plant in northern Blair County. The project, which has been awarded $4.3 million in state funding, aims to address the challenges posed by the plant's discharge of sauces containing dairy products.

"Large plants like this often require enhanced systems to treat wastewater before it reaches the local treatment facility," Ward emphasized. "Upgrades like these can be costly, especially when businesses are already navigating a tough economy."

The funding, provided by the state in the form of a low-interest loan, will support the installation of essential components such as conveyance infrastructure, a pump station, a 200,000-gallon tank, a strainer system, and a dissolved air flotation system capable of treating 200,000 gallons per day.

The project, estimated to cost $4.3 million, received approval from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST). PENNVEST, as an independent agency of the Commonwealth, offers low-cost financial assistance for the construction of water, sewer, and stormwater projects across Pennsylvania.

Ward highlighted the importance of this initiative in preserving the collection system, preventing clogs, and enabling the DelGrosso Foods plant to operate effectively, thereby supporting local employment and economic growth.
