State Sen. Judy Ward and Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding will come together at Hoss’s Steak & Seahouse in Mechanicsburg on Tuesday, March 5, at 3:30 p.m. to mark the passage of Senate Bill 152, which repeals the Frozen Dessert Law that has been in place since the 1960s.
According to the announcement, the Frozen Dessert Law, which has been deemed outdated due to the evolution of food safety laws and regulations, has been a burden on restaurants and frozen dessert shops. State Sen. Judy Ward highlighted this issue, stating that the law's duplicity has been detrimental, as it created unnecessary challenges for businesses in the industry.
The need for the repeal of the Frozen Dessert Law was brought to Ward's attention by local establishments, including members of Hoss’s Steak & Seahouse in the 30th Senatorial District she represents. After careful consideration, Senate Bill 152 was signed into law in November, receiving support from both the administration and stakeholders.
The commemoration event at Hoss’s Steak & Seahouse will serve as a moment to acknowledge the significance of this legislative change and its positive impact on the food industry.
