A section of State Route 994 over Blacklog Creek in Cromwell Township, Huntingdon County, will be named the Lieutenant Joseph O. Stevens Memorial Bridge. This dedication honors Stevens, a World War II pilot who served in the 9th U.S. Army Air Corps, 387th Bomb Group, 559th Squadron. His service in Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe earned him the Silver Star and an Air Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters.

The initiative to name the bridge was led by Rep. Rich Irvin (R-Huntingdon/Centre/Mifflin), who authored the bill for this designation. The dedication ceremony is scheduled for Monday, September 26, at 6 p.m., at Madden-Wennick Post 518 of the American Legion located at 573 Valley St., Rockhill.

Thomas Prestash from PennDOT District 9 and Edward Holland from Madden-Wennick Post 518 will join Stevens' family for the event.
