A ceremony will be held to dedicate the bridge carrying State Route 997 over Conodoguinet Creek in Letterkenny Township as the Pvt. Clyde C. McVitty Memorial Bridge. This event is scheduled for Friday, August 30, at 2:30 p.m., taking place at the Lurgan Lions Club located at 13978 Cumberland Hwy, Orrstown, PA.

The bridge is named in honor of Pvt. Clyde C. McVitty, who served with the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 82nd "All-American" Airborne Division and was killed in action during the Anzio Beach landing on February 9, 1944.

Rep. Rich Irvin (R-Franklin/Huntingdon) authored the bill naming this bridge after McVitty. The dedication ceremony will feature several notable attendees including Rep. Irvin himself; Rev. William Kauffman; Lawrence “Chip” Kolb Jr., Lurgan Township Supervisor; Sam Worley, a former Franklin County commissioner and World War II veteran; members of Minutemen of American Legion Post #223 Shippensburg; and members of McVitty's family.
