The Pennsylvania House Republican Leadership Team has expressed their condolences following the passing of Representative Matt Gergely. The team, comprising Leader Jesse Topper, Whip Tim O’Neal, Appropriations Chairman Jim Struzzi, Caucus Chairman Martina White, Caucus Administrator Sheryl Delozier, Caucus Secretary Clint Owlett, and Policy Committee Chairman David Rowe, released a statement regarding the loss.
The statement read: “We join in grieving the loss of our friend and colleague, Rep. Matt Gergely. Matt left behind a young family, and we send them our condolences, as well as our thoughts and prayers.”
The leadership highlighted Rep. Gergely's brief tenure in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives but acknowledged his significant impact during that time. They noted his commitment to both his family and community earned him respect across party lines.
“While Matt was only in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives a short time," they continued, "his commitment to his family and community were deeply felt among his peers and he quickly earned friends and respect on both sides of the aisle. His voice and presence will be missed both in Harrisburg and southeast Allegheny County.”
