The Strawberry Hills Soccer Complex in Logan Township has been awarded a grant of $655,800 from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR). This funding is intended to help bring the sports facility closer to completion, according to statements from Sen. Judy Ward and Rep. Lou Schmitt.
“This DCNR investment will further advance this soccer complex project that will support the growth of youth soccer in the area,” stated Ward. She emphasized that the project could attract tournaments and visitors, potentially bringing significant economic benefits to the region.
Logan Township plans to use the funds for various construction and installation projects at the complex. These include pedestrian walkways, a pavilion, soccer fields, an access drive, parking areas, stormwater management measures, play equipment with safety surfacing, fencing, park signage, utilities, ADA access improvements, landscaping, and other enhancements.
Rep. Schmitt highlighted that “this project is a lot more than simply adding soccer fields.” He noted that it would provide additional recreational space for residents and create a sports destination that could attract athletes from across Pennsylvania and beyond. This influx could positively impact the local economy.
The funding comes from the Community Conservation Partnerships Program managed by DCNR. This program receives its resources from various state and federal sources.
