FOIA Request to Blair County Sheriff's Office Regarding Comprehensive Arrest Records on October 22, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Altoona Times have formally requested access to all arrest records from January 1, 2024, to the present day under the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law, 65 §66.1 et seq.
Our request specifically seeks detailed information including the arrestee's name, sex, race, age, date of birth (DOB), citizenship status as well as the booking ID. We also asked for data regarding the date of arrest and booking photo. Further details sought include the name(s) of arresting officer(s), type of crime committed, location of crime and date of crime.
Access to public records is essential for us at Altoona Times in fulfilling our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
We await response from Blair County Sheriff's Office regarding this request and will continue our pursuit of transparency in local government affairs.
