Several community-improvement projects in Bedford County have been awarded $3 million in funding, as announced by Rep. Jesse Topper and Sen. Pat Stefano.

Stefano emphasized the importance of public safety, stating, "I’m grateful to see this funding go toward essential equipment and infrastructure improvements that will expand our municipalities’ ability to operate more effectively and efficiently." He added, "Public safety is paramount – so whether it’s roadway maintenance or a necessary school roof replacement, we must remain dedicated to keeping residents safe and constantly look for ways to best enhance the quality of life throughout Bedford County."

The Local Share Account through the Commonwealth Financing Authority has allocated funds for several projects: Shawnee Valley Volunteer Fire Company received $400,000 for a new fire station; West Providence Township Municipal Authority got $704,500 for pump station improvements; Cumberland Valley Township was granted $148,981 for a tractor with side mower; Hopewell Borough received two grants totaling $185,194 for a tractor purchase and sewer line replacements; Londonderry Township acquired $94,880 for a mini excavator; Napier Township obtained $300,000 for road maintenance equipment.

Additionally, grants were provided through the Public School Facility Improvement Grant Program. Topper remarked on these educational investments: “Ensuring our students have a safe place in which to learn is essential. These grants address building issues, creating the learning environment students deserve.” He continued by highlighting their broader impact: “Combined with the grants for our municipalities, this helps build a better Bedford County that will continue to thrive.”

Bedford Area School District secured $1.2 million for roof repairs at Bedford High School due to current water leakage issues. Northern Bedford County School District received $500,000 for window replacements and plumbing upgrades at its elementary school. Tussey Mountain School District was awarded $391,885 for an energy-saving project involving window replacements at Tussey Mountain Elementary School.

Representative Jesse Topper represents Pennsylvania's 78th District.
