Drivers with damaged or illegible license plates can have them replaced at an event hosted by Rep. Lou Schmitt (R-Altoona) in Logan Township.

“This license plate replacement event will be a quick and easy process for drivers,” Schmitt said. “All too often, plates become illegible or damaged over time. At this event, we will kick start the replacement process so drivers can get their new plates quickly.”

The replacement event is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 15, from 4-6 p.m. at the Newburg Fire Association, 2805 Washington Ave., Logan Township. Officers from the Logan Township Police Department will inspect the plates to determine if they need replacement.

Drivers are required to bring their unexpired Pennsylvania driver’s license and current vehicle registration card. The process is expected to take just a few minutes, with new plates arriving at a later date.

A registration plate is considered illegible when one or more numbers or letters cannot be recognized from 50 feet away or if it shows any blistering, peeling, discoloration, or loss of reflectivity.
