Altoona Area School District issued the following announcement on Aug. 13.
Dear Parent/Guardian,
The start of the new school year is just around the corner and we’re excited to welcome everyone back.
The first student day is Wednesday, August 25 for students in grades 1 through 12. Kindergarten students will begin Thursday, August 26 and Friday, August 27 depending on the schedule mailed for your child.
Student homeroom assignments and class schedules are now live on Skyward. You and your child can access that information directly. (If you forgot your password, click the Forgot your Login/Password? link on the Family Access login screen. A password reset email will be sent to the email on file in Skyward. If you no longer have that email, contact the buildings Main Office.)
Teacher assignment letters have been mailed to all elementary families.
Student Transportation letters were mailed today, August 13, 2021, so watch for that information to arrive sometime next week.
As a reminder, the Secondary Student Code of Conduct was revised to require clear backpacks for secondary students in grades 6-12. If you wish to purchase a clear backpack directly from the school, they are available at the Jr. and Sr. High School Main Office for the cost of $12.
A Vaccination Clinic sponsored by Thompson Pharmacy will be offered during the AAJHS and AAHS Meet the Teacher Nights. This clinic is available to any adult or student 12 years of age or older.
Finally, Meet the Teacher Nights are planned at all AASD schools. We invite you to visit your child’s teacher according to the following schedule:
