More than $3.8 million in state grants has been awarded to municipalities in Bedford and Fulton counties for infrastructure improvements, according to an announcement from Rep. Jesse Topper (R-Bedford/Fulton).

“The grant dollars will truly have positive impacts on local residents and are sound investments in our communities,” Topper said. “The funding covers a wide range of projects, from upgrades to sewer and water systems to improving roads. I am glad to have advocated for this funding and thank the CFA for seeing the merits of these projects.”

The funding is provided through two programs managed by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA). The Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program is distributing grants to several municipal authorities:

– $260,000 goes to Bedford Township Municipal Authority for Pallet Pump Station upgrades.
– $225,000 is awarded to East Providence Township Municipal Authority for replacing a sludge digester.
– Saxton Borough Municipal Authority receives $180,083 for phase 2 of sewer improvements.
– Centerville Area Municipal Authority is granted $58,516 for well source development.
– Everett Borough Area Municipal Authority receives $273,700 for the Summit Street waterline replacement project.
– Saxton Borough gets $79,852 to replace a programmable logic controller.
– Bedford Borough is allocated $131,750 for green stormwater infrastructure and upgrade projects.

These grants are intended to help with construction or repair work on small water supply or sanitary sewer systems.

Additional funds come from the Multimodal Transportation Fund. This program aims to promote economic development by supporting transportation-related projects:

– The Bedford County Development Association will receive $813,427 for access road improvements near Bedford County Business Park III in Bedford Township.
– Bedford Township will get $465,085 to demolish and reconstruct Dively Road Bridge.
– The Borough of Bedford is set to receive $984,998 for pedestrian route improvements between Central Way, Huntingdon Avenue and Juliana Street.
– Thompson Township will use its $171,000 grant for repairs on West Orchard Road bridge.
– Union Township receives $174,000 for paving four roads.

According to Topper’s office, these grants are expected to improve essential services such as clean water delivery and safe transportation routes throughout the region.
