A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Fulton County, Pennsylvania, on October 7, 2024. The request was made by us at the Altoona Times, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
The request specifically sought public records under the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law, 65 §66.1 et seq., preferably in electronic format. The requested records include a list of FOIA logs that were sent to Fulton County from January 1, 2024 till October 7, 2024.
The fields requested in the FOIA logs include the requester's name and organization, content of the request, date of the request and its completion date, as well as the status of the FOIA.
As members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to these public records is essential for us at Altoona Times to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals. We eagerly await a response from Fulton County regarding this important matter.
