Altoona Area School District issued the following announcement on Sept. 2.

Masking Requirement Effective Tuesday, September 7, 2021
***NOTICE***
As ordered by the Acting Director of the Pennsylvania Department of Health on August 31, 2021, all teachers, children/students, or visitors working, attending, or visiting a school entity shall wear a face covering indoors, regardless of vaccination status, except those covered under limited exceptions to face covering requirements.
Click here to view all exceptions and allowable face coverings as outlined in section 3 of the order.
All people entering or while inside Altoona Area School District (AASD) buildings will be required to comply with the masking requirement. Failure to comply with the requirement will result in the following:
Adults
- Non-compliant adults will not be permitted in AASD buildings
- Non-compliant students will be offered an allowable face covering to comply
- Failure to comply will result in communication with parent or guardian
- Continued, subsequent or repeat violations will be subject to disciplinary action according to the Altoona Area School District Student Code of Conduct
- If removal is necessary and cannot be arranged, the student will be taken to a designated area until removal can occur
