The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art is partnering with Art in Common for “Community Create Togethers"

Blair County Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on July 29.

The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art (SAMA), in partnership with Art in Common, is pleased to announce a series of “Community Create Togethers”. Join fellow artists, creatives, and observers each Friday afternoon from August 6th through October 22nd at a different community location. This plein air group will meet each week to create artwork alongside each other. Bring your paints, your pencils, your camera, and any creative tool to make artwork surrounded by other artists.

Participants who attend three or more sessions will be invited to exhibit in the group exhibition at SAMA Altoona in early 2022 to display work created during these sessions. The following schedule is proposed :

August 6th - Canal Basin Park

August 13th - Chimney Rocks

August 20th - Fort Roberdeau

August 27th - Baker Mansion

September 3rd - Spring Dam ParkP

September 10th - Lakemont

September 17th - Horseshoe Curve

September 24th - Discovery Garden

October 1st - Altoona Curve

October 8th - Reservoir Park

October 15th - Don Devorris Pavilion in Downtown Altoona

October 22nd - Portage Railroad National Monument

Please register for up to date information, meeting spots, and necessary weather dependent adjustments. Registration is encouraged but not required. These events are FREE and open to all levels. There will be no instruction - you have the freedom to just create together!

The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art in Altoona is located at the Brett Building in Downtown Altoona. Hours of operation are 12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. The Museum is open to the public free of charge. For more information, visit www.sama-art.org or call (814) 946-4464
