Chestnut Ridge Senior High School recently issued the following announcement.

Announcement from Mr. Shoemaker

CRHS Students & Parents:

These are unprecedented and uncertain times. I hope this letter finds you and your family safe and you are

finding productive ways to use the extra time you suddenly have available. Starting tomorrow, your education

will resume with online classes becoming the “new norm” in our daily routines. We are hoping this letter will

assist you with making the transition to virtual learning an easy one! We do not have answers for many of the

questions that you probably have, but our goal is to share with you what we do know, and extend a hand to help

in any way possible during these difficult times.

We are all in this together! Your priority should be to take care of yourself, and your family. Whenever

possible help out with family members, and possibly neighbors, who may be in need of help and support.

Please do your part in abiding by the CDC's "Stop the Spread" principles of washing your hands frequently,

staying at home and always practicing social distancing when it is necessary to be amongst others, avoid

touching your face, cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces on a regular basis, and avoiding

contact with those who are sick.

After an 11 day hiatus, your educational year will pick up again starting tomorrow morning. With school board

approval this evening of our districts’ proposed "Continuity of Education" plan, we can begin counting student

days once again. Our initial focus will be on "reviewing and enrichment” of previously learned concepts in an

online format with each of your teachers. Teachers will be working from their homes and will be available to

communicate with you from 8-12 and 1-3 each day. Moodle will continue to be our primary way of delivering

instruction to you each day.

In the area of testing, PSSA & Keystone testing are cancelled this year as determined by PDE. Local

assessments for Seniors in the class of 2020, with school board action, will most likely be cancelled as

well. Community service credits will be viewed as a full credit despite an interim absence of duties, that will

resume when classes return. School work (assignments/classwork/projects) through March 13 need to be

completed and submitted ASAP to count toward your 3rd 9 week grade.

Seniors, we are truly disappointed that many of the highlights of your Senior year are vanishing. Your priority

should be to finish strong academically, just like it is every year, and avoid the Senior slide! I want to

emphasize each of you will be OK academically as long as you demonstrate the EFFORT to complete the work

that remains for you in each of your classes! We will keep you informed along the way as we find out further

details about our remaining school year and Graduation 2020!

In conclusion, we are here to help you in any way we can please do not hesitate to contact us! Our office

will remained staffed each day until further notice.

Sincerely,

Max A. Shoemaker & Eric Zeznanski
