More than $2.78 million in funding has been allocated to the 81st Legislative District for infrastructure improvements, according to an announcement by Rep. Rich Irvin (R-Franklin/Huntingdon). The funds come from the Multimodal Transportation Fund and the Small Water and Sewer Program, both administered by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA), which oversees Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus initiatives.
“I’m grateful the CFA recognized the importance of these projects and awarded them grant funding,” said Irvin. “The funding will go a long way in ensuring residents in these municipalities have adequate infrastructure to meet their needs, including replacing and upgrading water and sewer infrastructure and improving a local roadway.”
A significant portion of the funding—$1.45 million—was awarded to Metal Township for repairs and repaving on Creek Road between Fannettsburg Road and Pigeon Hill Road. This project covers a 3.15-mile stretch of road that is currently deteriorated.
The Multimodal Transportation Fund supports projects aimed at developing or improving transportation assets, including roads, sidewalks, lighting, pedestrian safety measures, and transit-oriented development.
Several grants from the Small Water and Sewer Program were also announced:
– Petersburg Borough Authority will receive $141,000 for replacing water mains along Juniata Valley Pike Road.
– Broad Top City Borough was granted $26,095 for an inflow and infiltration project.
– Cumberland Franklin Joint Municipal Authority secured $375,000 for pumping station upgrades in Shippensburg.
– Saint Thomas Township Municipal Authority received $400,000 to replace a wastewater line along Libson Drive.
– Dudley Borough was allocated $393,447 for stormwater collection system upgrades.
These grants are intended to assist with construction or improvement of water supply systems, sanitary sewers, storm sewers, or flood control projects.
