Sen. Judy Ward and state Rep. Rich Irvin have revealed that almost $900,000 in state grant funding has been allocated for two projects in Huntingdon County. The grants, provided through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA), will support transportation improvements in Huntingdon Borough and Henderson Township.

"I am pleased to hear about the Multimodal Transportation Program grant awards for Henderson Township and Huntingdon Borough," expressed Sen. Judy Ward. "I am always happy to advocate for the needs of my district, especially when it comes to projects like these. This financing will allow these municipalities to make much-needed transportation improvements to increase the safety and reliability of local infrastructure without placing a burden on local taxpayers."

The grant for Huntingdon Borough totals more than $700,000 and will be used to reconfigure the intersection of Moore Street and Cold Springs Road. State Rep. Rich Irvin highlighted the importance of this project, stating, "Roadway realignment and safety improvements to the busy Cold Springs Road-Moore Street intersection better ensure safety for both motorists and pedestrians."

Henderson Township will benefit from a $185,000 grant to fund roadway improvements on Gorsuch Road. Rep. Irvin emphasized the significance of addressing the township's infrastructure needs, "In Henderson Township, residents have reported aging and deteriorating roadways. These funds to repair Gorsuch Road will also allow the township to dedicate its resources to other infrastructure needs."

The grants were awarded through the DCED Multimodal Transportation Fund grant program, which aims to support projects that encourage economic development and ensure a safe and reliable transportation system for commonwealth residents. The Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) administers the economic stimulus packages provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED).
